Job Description
To supervise and undertake the installation, maintenance and repair of communication equipment and systems for the Tanzania Region in order to ensure effective communication along the pipeline and facilitate monitoring of the transportation of the product process.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning: Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programmes on telecommunications equipment in order to ensure their working order.
- Installations and Modifications: Undertakes timely installations and commissioning of new communication systems and equipment, modifications of existing ones in order to facilitate their use and continuity of operations.
- Repairs: Supervises and undertakes promptly, the repair of breakdowns on communications equipment in order to prevent disruptions of operations.
- Requisition of Materials: Supervises and undertakes periodically the requisition of spares and inputs in order to meet sectional requirements.
- Sectional Budgeting: Undertakes efficiently, forecasting of requirements, scheduling expenses and creating budgets in order to facilitate resource mobilization.
- Induction of operations Staff: Supervises timely, the induction of operations staff to new installations and modifications of telecommunications systems, in order to build capacity to utilize equipment efficiently and safely.
- Quality Control: Checks and ensures regularly that all works done at workshops and field conform to appropriate engineering standards in order to ensure their quality and durability.
- Maintenance of safety: Ensures that safety gear and equipment are available and safety regulations are followed at all working sites in order to facilitate the well-being of staff.
- Performance Management: Undertakes the implementation of performance management systems in order monitor and evaluate performance and develop remedial measures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Form VI Certificate
- BSc Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
- Member of the Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
Preferred Qualifications
- Able to write technical and analytical reports
- Strong supervisory and team working skills
- Excellent critical thinking and computation skills
- Creative problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Computer Aided Design skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English and Swahili
Minimum Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
